Hands on... Noses down...
On Site with trained tracking dogs!
After completing the online coursework, apprentice Field Agents are now ready to begin their
actual training. There will be limited lecture with the vast majority of the instruction being hands on training and
K9 handling. All participants, will spend the first morning following along on a search to get the feel of
the process involved. From that point on, students will be the K9 handlers learning the basic techniques necessary
to work as a field agent and support for Karin.
All students will learn to handle
K9s from our K9 tracking team as well as how to work as a navigator for a dog team. Necessary and optional equipment will
be demonstrated and put to use in the cases.
At the end of the week, students
will travel with Karin to work a real case. Individuals will be given the opportunity to work the case as a handler and navigator
always taking into consideration that this is a real life pet owner facing a traumatic crisis.
Students will go over all skills necessary for working as a Field Agent. At the end of this training
period the student and tracking dog candidate will undergo assessment and evaluation for continuing on as
a Field Agent TEAM working with Karin.
